Large Skipper II
Another large skipper in the grass. These butterflies are noticeably distinct from typical larger species as they hold their wings in a more vertical position at rest and have proportionally wider bodies, like moths. There are quite a few species present in Britain, mostly golden or brown in colour and normally seen flying low over wild grassland. Thistle flowers are a good place to look for feeding adults. 2008.
