Meadow Brown Portrait
Besides skippers, the dominant butterflies of Brockwell meadow are in the brown family. The meadow brown is the larger and darker, while the gatekeeper is smaller and has rust-coloured patches on the upper sides of the wings. In late summer these butterflies fly up from the grass in large numbers when walking across the meadow. 2008.
