The Sundial in Winter
During this year's many snowy days I had plenty of time to refine the work of previous winters, studying the transformation of the familiar park features at leisure and looking for new opportunities. There were many as-yet untouched areas to concentrate on, but of course the Walled Garden is always a temptation. Although I had already photographed the sundial in spring from a similar angle, the stark white outline of the wisteria branches made this version far more unusual, and of all the new winter work this is one of my favourites.
