Spring Thaw in Prestesteinsvatnet
The Sognefjell pass is the highest in Europe and crosses the most rugged mountain range in Norway. The route is also one of the most spectacular, leading from the arctic landscape of 3000m peaks down through steep gorges to the lush and verdant Lusterfjord. This photograph from the higher part shows the ice on a mountain lake beginning to break up while the summits above are still enveloped in snow clouds. May 2007.
