Dry Seaweed River, Corrie
I returned to the Corrie shore on my last evening on the island feeling that I already done enough good work but that one more attempt wouldn’t do any harm. The light and clouds proved to be some of the best of the week, and provided the best backdrop for the salt-encrusted seaweed patterns on the sandstone platform – of all my photographs depicting this biological and mineralogical phenomenon this one is closest to doing it justice. A thin strip in the middle of this surreal, pastel-coloured landscape contains the distant mainland coast, gleaming in the last sunlight. June 2009.
