Light and Lichen Patterns, Corrie Sandstone
The strengthening light shortly after dawn provides the best modeling of the day, being at a very low angle, and contrasting warm yellow with the blue of shadows. The receding fins, ledges and planes of the sandstone sweep across the upper shore, punctuated by tufts of grass and thrift and patches of coloured lichen. June 2009.
