The Regent's Park, usually grouped with the separate area of Primrose Hill to the north, is one of the most varied and beautiful parks in central London, including formal avenues, open fields, mixed woodland and extensive lakes and rivers. The central Queen Mary's Gardens, enclosed by the Inner Circle road, includes the geometric Rose Garden, the Japanese Garden, the Open Air Theatre and the secluded gardens of St John's Lodge. I began my personal project on Regent's Park landscapes this autumn and have been lucky enough to spend a little time there at the atmospheric height of the season. The great open lake landscapes and some of the other enclosed areas are yet to come, as is Primrose Hill.
