Garreg Ddu Heather and Rock I

In late August the hills of the Elan Valley are coloured purple with flowering heather. From a distance this makes an unusual spectacle, but at closer range the rocky slopes can be just as attractive, if not more so. I studied these brilliantly coloured rocks facing Garreg Ddu dam on many days, but with almost continual high winds there were few opportunities to photograph them with the delicate heather lying still.
