Thousands of glistening raindrops festoon these birch trees on a calm winter morning in 2007. A slight haze gives the distant hills a strong violet hue. Birch trees are I believe some of the most attractive species in winter, with elegant fine branches and bark light enough to reveal its texture even in the shade. They are also often a feature of dramatic mountainous landscapes across northern regions.
