Hillside Rushes and Grass in Snowstorm, Esgair Brithgwm
Having climbed the steep hill overlooking the Craig Goch dam on a cold day in February, I was glad to see the veil of a snow shower approaching rapidly. It may not always be possible to record the actual falling snowflakes in the landscape owing to their speed, but the presence of all the particles in the air inevitably changes the quality of the light and reduces aerial transparency in an interesting way. In this photograph the mottled brown of the receding hills is lightened attractively and the boundaries between sky and land softened. February 2009.
