The Elan Valley

A set of reservoirs in the mountainous centre of Wales which were created to supply water to Birmingham. The landscapes of the Elan Valley/Cwm Elan are some of the most dramatic and beautiful I’ve ever had the chance to visit with any frequency. A set of winter photographs were the subject of an exhibition in the visitor centre in 2009 and included many images of the cold winters of the time. I continue to visit, exploring new parts and new photographic concepts, even though I now have many other ongoing projects in mid Wales. The Elan Valley remains one of my favourite places in the UK.
