Borde Hill Garden

This grand public garden surrounds a beautiful Elizabethan mansion in West Sussex, near Haywards Heath. It’s a fairly new project for me and being further from where I live in London, the challenge is in predicting good weather at a distance. There are many outstanding specimens of rare and significant trees and plants around the garden, but my favourite features are “Jay Robin’s Rose Garden” (which is the inspiration for my separate “A Rose Garden” project), the raised Italian Garden and the beautiful Garden of Allah. These photographs represent the best of many trips down to Sussex, but really only one or two moments of good weather so far.
